Born in Mississippi, Mr. Robinson was fascinated at a young age by the visual arts. "During my years in middle school I cut my teeth on drawing the Marvel Comic Book characters." Robinson dropped out of school and was drafted into the military and then moved to Chicago's south side where he was shot in the left eye, just missing the part of the brain that governs breathing and heart function. He was left partially paralyzed on his left side, and he returned to art by painting the walls in his apartment. Now he paints the scenes he continues to witness in rural Mississippi. " I feel most alive when I paint. All of my senses are engaged, and I respond to, and I feel moved by, and into something larger than myself."
