Creating art, drawing and painting, has been a life long passion for Joleen. Growing up in Detroit, she attended young adult art classes at the prestigious Cranbrook Institute of Art and while raising a family in Ohio she studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Now firmly entrenched in the south, Joleen teaches with the St Tammany Art Association. Joleen loves to paint plein- air but is primarily a studio painter. Her work is detailed, illustrative and impressionistically realistic. She loves the fluid transparent nature of watercolor and the ability to blend colors on the paper to create subtle changes in hue. She is fascinated with glazing, building form and value by layering thin washes of luminous color.
